GBDSC had 22 swimmers taking part in the Para Nationals in Manchester's 50 Metre pool on 12th & 13th December. A staggering 85 personal best long course times were achieved out of 111 races with many outstanding performances including 14 new GB Age Group records. 11 year old Libby Gotta claimed records in the 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast & 200 I.M. as well as the records for 50 Free and 50 Breast with her split in the 100 event being valid.
12 Year old Evie Gallen claimed the 200 I.M. GB records and of course bettered her own Irish records with 6 Personal bests. Also 12, Jessica Oaten set new records in the 50 & 100 Freestyle as did 13 year old Kieron Harris and 16 year old Nathan Young. Ciara Tappenden (14) added the 200I.M. to her growing list of records.
Other fantastic performances included Lewis & Fraser McCulloch taking almost a minute each off their 400 Freestyle times.
Ryan Carstairs (10), Kieron Harris (13), Fraser McCulloch (15), Sam Merritt (17) & Nathan Young (16) all had personal bests in every race with Lewis McCulloch only missing out following a DQ in the 100 Free.
For the girls Jessica Oaten (12) also missed out on a perfect set of results with a DQ in the 200 I.M., while full personal bests were gained by Letisha Ellis (11), Evie Gallen (12), Libby Gotta (11), Lucy Jordan-Caws (12), Natasha Milton (13) & Lucy Sharp (14).
Completing the swimmers with many excellent swims & Personal Bests were Tom Baxter(22), Oliver Kenny (18), Jake Bayley (13), Zack Merritt (13), Matthew Oaten (16), Polly Saines (17), Jasmine Seamarks (15) & Lucy Walkup (19). Well done to everyone.
