Discriminated because of a government policy. To say we are proud of them both is an understatement. We can clearly see the impact their experiences had on the committee.

]]><![CDATA[English Nationals]]>Tue, 29 Jul 2025 07:00:00 GMThttp://www.gbdeafswimming.org/news1/english-nationals8  GBDSC swimmers travelled to Sheffield to compete at the  iconic Ponds Forge swimming pool  for the   2025 GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet!
The first national meet for some of our swimmers before they head to Tokyo to represent GB    in the 25th Deaflympics.
The 6 days of competition saw the athletes compete in numerous events and show the country why they represent  GB by achieving many new PB's.
A great event allowing the swimmers a chance to experience a multi-day event and prepare for the upcoming Deaflympics in Tokyo , November 2025.
]]><![CDATA[National Junior Para Swimming Championships]]>Sat, 22 Jun 2024 13:17:55 GMThttp://www.gbdeafswimming.org/news1/national-junior-para-swimming-championshipsOver the weekend of  8th & 9th June, 11 of our Young Talents competed at the National Junior Para Swimming Championships at The Alan Higgs Centre in Coventry. 
Chloe Farrington, Bethany Gamble, Charlotte Gower, Ellie Graham, Katy Wun, Freya Chipperfield, Martynas Kazakevicius, Thomas Harvey, Gregor Craig, Angus Donald & Nathan Carrington made the trip from all areas of the UK to represent GB Deaf Swimming at the event. 
Across the weekend they took part in multiple events each competing in Heats & Finals  and also as a Team in the multi-classification Relays. 
Everyone of them can be extremely proud of their  swims with some excellent stand out performances, but equally proud of their poolside conduct in representing  GB Deaf Swimming. The organisers praised our swimmers attendance at the event, in-particular their  awareness in being ready to compete and relaxed attitude whilst waiting for their event. Chairman Dave  Carrington said "it was an absolute pleasure to spend my time with all of them on poolside and watch them showcase their obvious talent"

The weekend schedule will be as usual with the Annual Championships taking place on the Saturday PM and then  on the Sunday AM there will be a Land Training session  followed by a Pool Training Session.
We suggest using the Premier Inn  on Southfield Road , Loughborough , LE11 9SA for your accommodation. This is ideally situated for the University & offers multiple parking options . 

Further Information will be sent to all members once  timings are finalised etc. but we look forward to welcoming you all  along to Loughborough  in April!!

MARK THIS DATE IN YOUR DIARY - SATURDAY 23rd & SUNDAY 24th  APRIL 2022 
This is the date  for the return of our Annual Championships which we are pleased to announce will be held at  Loughborough University.

The weekend schedule will be the Annual Championships taking place on the Saturday PM and then  on the Sunday AM there will be a Land Training session  followed by a Pool Training Session.

I do hope this e-mail finds you fit & well.
 
It really has been such a long time since we all got together that I think we will be in for some shocks, particularly with some of the younger swimmers that are probably not that small anymore! But that is exactly what this e-mail is about – the possible return to a GBDSC Weekend.
With everything around us now moving out of restrictions I am hoping we can get together later this year. All though for some Training has been now back up and running for a little while and they may have even competed at Gala’s, the ability to meet has still been something we have had to patiently wait for.
 
So what I would like from you all is some feedback as to where you are currently up too with everything swimming related and also your thoughts on us hosting a Training Weekend 😊
 
Here in York – Nathan has been fortunate to have been back in Training for since mid-April and has since been able to attend a couple of Gala’s albeit with no spectators and the Club have held several Level X events. From next week we are introducing parents back into pools to be able to watch training which to be fair won’t be many with the older kids but is a huge step for our younger swimmers in the Teaching section.
 
If you can send me some similar details to the above asap and also let me know if you are ready to attend a Training weekend I would really appreciate it and this will allow us to start organising a weekend for later this year. I also know that Martin would like to know how everyone is doing with their training etc. so he can organise the Training schedules & relevant squads.
 
I look forward to your replies and even more to the possibility of a Training weekend/ Social gathering 😊
