Speedo Steps Up: Supporting Our Deaflympians with World-Class Kit

As the GB Deaflympics swim team gears up for competition, we’re proud to share some fantastic news that has given our athletes a huge boost in confidence and readiness. Speedo — one of the most iconic names in aquatic sport — has generously sponsored our swimmers, providing every piece of kit they need for the Deaflympics.
From training costumes to racing suits, branded caps to goggles, and even team bags, Speedo has ensured that our athletes will arrive fully equipped, looking sharp, and feeling prepared. For many swimmers, receiving this level of professional kit is more than just practical support — it’s a moment of recognition, validation, and pride.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of Dave Carrington, whose dedication behind the scenes made this partnership a reality. Dave worked relentlessly to secure the funding and support needed to outfit the team, driven by his belief in every swimmer’s potential. His determination opened the door to this incredible opportunity, and the team couldn’t be more grateful.
The swimmers have expressed deep appreciation for Speedo’s faith in them. Knowing that a global brand is willing to stand behind Deaf athletes sends a powerful message: that their talent, commitment, and hard work are seen — and valued.
As we head into competition, we hope to make Speedo proud, representing both the brand and Great Britain with professionalism, strength, and unity. And of course, we’re excited to walk onto the pool deck looking smart, confident, and ready to race in our new kit.
From the whole GB Deaflympics swimming team: thank you, Speedo — and thank you, Dave. Your belief in us means more than you know.

A Remarkable Gift: How the Di Walker Charitable Foundation Lifted Team GB Deaflympics
Today, we’re celebrating something truly special — a moment that has brought both relief and renewed motivation to every member of the GBDSC Deaflympics squad. The Di Walker Charitable Foundation has stepped forward with full funding support for our team, and the impact of this generosity is already being felt across the whole programme.
The story behind this support began with a simple conversation. Di Walker first heard about athlete Nathan Carrington through someone who had taught him during his Sixth Form years. Learning about his dedication, and about the financial pressures many Deaf athletes face on the road to international competition, Di felt moved to make a difference. But instead of offering support to just one athlete, she chose to uplift the entire team — a decision that has transformed what the Deaflympics journey looks like for all of us.
This isn’t just a financial boost; it’s a powerful message of belief. Knowing that someone is willing to stand behind every athlete gives us the freedom to focus fully on training, performance, and representing Great Britain with pride. It’s an act of kindness that reminds us just how strong and supportive our wider community truly is.
We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Di at our October training weekend, where we can thank her in person and share the progress her generosity has helped make possible.
From all of us at GBDSC: thank you to the Di Walker Charitable Foundation. Your support fuels our journey, lifts our spirits, and reminds every athlete that they are backed by a community that believes in their dreams.
