Congratulations to everyone for making our championship weekend a massive success with an outstanding turnout from our members. Despite the quick turnaround of races many top class swims were achieved throughout the event.
In Category 'A' age group records were set by Alice Kinsey, Keara Hemsworth, Kiera Grainger, Poppy Leaman, Grace Crispin & Nicola McConnell. Our Category 'A' membership continues to grow and as a club we will be looking to introduce new ideas in this area.
Our Category B swimmers also had some outstanding age group swims with records being set by Ryan Carstairs, Kieron Harris, Libby Gotta, Evie Gallen, Lucy Jordan-Caws & Shiona McClafferty.
A 4 x 50 freestyle relay race involving a male and female team of Jessica Oaten, Polly Saines, Jasmine Seamarks, Ciara Tappenden, Kieran Holdbrook, Sam Merritt, Matt Oaten & Nathan Young claimed the vacant National, Youth & English relay records setting a challenge for future years.
Evie Gallen and Abbie Williams were both able to claim Irish & Welsh records respectively and senior swimmer Oliver Kenny followed up his Andrew Rees award at the Nationals with GB National records in 50 & 100 Backstroke earlier this month in preparation for the Deaflympics in July.

Our age group swimmers keep raising the bar for future generations with yet more records falling over the last month.
Ryan Carstairs claimed the 11& Under 50 Back and 200 I.M. short course while Kieron Harris (14) set new times in 100 Fly Long course and 200 Fly Short Course as well as 100 Back both Long and Short with the short course record having been set in 2002 15 years ago.
In our Cat A records 12 year old Harvey Spoor set records in 50/100 Breast & 50 Fly all Short Course. & for the girls Poppy Leaman (14) took the 50 Back & 200 I.M. times while 15 year old Grace Crispin grabbed the 400 Free record.
Our Cat B females continued their great form with Libby Gotta (12) again racking up some impressive swims in 100 Free/Fly/Back/Breast Long Course and added the 50/100/200 Fly & 100 Back Short Course Records.
Lucy Jordan-Caws continued her recent good form with records in the 14 years age group in 50 & 100 Fly and finally 15 year old Ciara Tappenden broke the short course 200 Breaststroke record to complete a great few weeks for our swimmers.

Records have been tumbling since the new year from our youngest swimmers through to our senior swimmers. Ryan Carstairs (11 & under) reset the short course bar in 100 Free, 400 Free & 100 IM while Kieron Harris (14) improved the Long course 50 Fly & 50 Breast. Senior swimmer Oliver Kenny (19) smashed 6 English short course records (50/200 Breast, 50/200 Back 200 Fly & 200 IM.) Oliver's Backstroke events were also GB National records. For the girls, Libby Gotta continues to rewrite almost all the age group records adding 10 more to her name across the strokes. 13 Year old Lucy Jordan-Caws also had a great start to the year with records in 100/200 Fly & 100/200 Back. 16 Year old Shiona McClafferty added new records in the 200 Fly and 400 IM short course as well as the 200 Breast Long course. With Cat A records only just being published we have already had improvements this year from 16 year old Nicola McConnell who has already improved 14 records this year. 12 Year old Harvey Spoor notched up records in 50 & 200 Breaststroke while some of the clubs newest members also got in on the act with 15 year old Grace Crispinn15 year old improving the 200 & 800 free records as well as the 50 fly & Poppy Leaman (14) grabbing the 400 IM. 10 Year old Alice Kinsey set new records in 50 Free, 50 Back, 50 Fly & 200 Back after receiving word that she had finished 1st in the British Long Distance Postal Swim managing 3290 Metres in the allotted 1 hour time against over 100 swimmers Nationwide in her age group. Also amongst the awards was 10 year old Lily Cook at Oxford & Buckinghamshire competition. Well done to everybody.
GB Deaf Swimming Club is pleased to announce that Cat A age group records have now been added to the members page. Please take the time to check them and let the records keeper know if you think there are any errors or records have been missed. The records have been checked all the way back to 1 Sept 2012. Please remember that to qualify for a record you had to be a member of the club and all records are age on the day.
There are 3 galas which will be open to S15 swimmers, Midlands East & West on 4 March, at Nottingham. North West on 11 March at Salford & East district on 19 March in Newmarket. A summary with the website info for each can be viewed here

2016 has seen an amazing number of new records with the final results of the year seeing our young swimmers continue to rewrite the records. In the last month Jasmine & Ciara added English records, Evie Gallen improved her Irish records while Jack McComish & Danielle Joyce broke many Scottish records.
