How did you get started at GBDSC?

I joined GBDSC Just before  2017  and was lucky to see the dedication of the team that headed out to the Deaflympics in Türkiye.
I  have been helping out ever since working with the youngest of GBDSC's athletes where my skills lie, building skills at the foundation, even some of our soon to be Deaflympians.
Unique Skills?
I have been coaching since I was 16  and found my niche in coaching the younger swimmers. I love building that foundation of skill, technique and a love for the sport. Now I have been coaching for more than half my life and I love going on new courses learning new things and getting a chance to collaborate with other  coaches something I'm looking forward to doing in Japan.
When I'm not coaching I am a teaching assistant specialising in Special Educational Needs  SEN and I bring the patience, flexibility  and ingenuity I have learnt in this role into my coaching.
My biggest passion is Mental Health so I hope to support the athletes in this area as the mental game is half of any sport!

Champions aren’t just built in the pool or on the track — they’re built in the moments when doubt meets determination and you choose to keep going.

What are you most looking forward to about going to Tokyo?

I'm looking forward to seeing the swimmers show the world what they can do. Seeing athletes from  so many different countries come together to compete and train and hopefully socialise is what any  international sports meet should be about.
